Oh how I'd love to live on a lake in the Greenville area! Are there any?? I'm looking for something in the $175 to $250,000, preferably a ranch style for my husband and I to retire to. My dream lake would be big enough to jet ski/boat on yet clean enough to float on a tube with a good book and small cooler of beer! Do any of you know of such a place?? And/or maybe a real estate agency that would be in the area I might long for?

^^I agree. There are other lakes, but they're not in Greenville County.

Yeah...there's Saluda Lake in the Berea area. People go different ways with it. Some say it isn't too great and has problem with silt (and i'm not completely sure what that is) and then there are others who say it's recovering.

As far as I know it has been recovering. The last time I was over there at a friend's house (on the lake) we floated around and even saw a boat or two. I was there a few years ago and there were some really shallow areas...so I'm not sure how that is now.

Lake Robinson is beautiful, but it limits motors to 10 hp and you cannot swim in it. It is the water source for Greer.

I recommend Lake Hartwell over in Anderson County. It is a pretty long drive to Greenville, but not terribly far if you don't have to commute everyday. I actually used to commute from Greenville to the town of Hartwell, GA, everyday for a few months during one summer. That was an interesting drive.

I live on saluda, its about 12-14 ft deep under my dock and I don't know of any super shallow area right now, although I am aware that in the past they had silt problems, from what I understand they have been working to dredge the lake, I just saw a home in the LINK paper on saluda for $170,000, I know of one home on the easley side of the lake that had a deeded dock for around $100,000(2 bedroom with inground pool) I love it here, I see many boats everyday, its no hartwell, but I enjoy the privacy that comes with that.

I would consider the Lake Hartwell area or the Paris Mountain area. If you are interested in a real estate agent I know a great one who is familiar with the areas you are looking for. You can email at nelmasgirl@gmail.com and I will give you that information.
