What forms of entertainment are in Greenville for the Fresh College grads?

When i ask for entertainment, lets stick to the spontaneous venues.. things you can expect to find open each week/weekend through the year.

Please, no bashing, no flaming. This is simply to keep everyone including myself, abreast on what's out there for the 21-35 crowd

Well first off, things that are open each week/weekend through the year wouldn't be spontaneous. Anyways, I'll name a couple things, but have to get on the road back to Greenville for the weekend!

-You can usually find live music most nights of the week and weekend at many different places. The Handlebar always has pretty good music and there are often free shows downtown on weekends. There is also Gottrocks. I've never been but I'd assume it's similar to the Handlebar. There are others that I don't know much about or just don't appeal to me but would to others.

-There are bars, which I don't know much about seeing as I'm 19.

-During the baseball season the Greenville Drive have plenty of home games at West End Field.

-Every now and then there are decent concerts/shows at the Bi-lo Center.

Enough from me, I need to get out of here.

anybody else?

i remember when La Montana was open, it was a great alternative option for people of culture.

I think it would be nice to see:
- urban comedy / spoken word lounges

- authentic bachata, salsa, merengue lounge and restaurants with local transplants with musical talent operating

- Greenville needs to let Jillians in on downtown (if they are still intersted) , main street.. period.. the politics of Greenville are retarded. You're too good to allow Jillians in your downtown yet every other major city doing triple the growth of your city is not? JILLIANS / D&B, while a bit expensive, are great options to have in a downtown! They should have just moved to Mauldin......... right over by the new area constructed off i385 on Butler

- I think we need a cultural musuem downtown. I'm tired of that Confederate crap they have downtown......... a confederate musuem before you have a Musuem honoring anything of value to everyone living in the area is an insult in a lot of ways to many people who are descendents of the people who fought for the freedom of this country and those the confederates wanted to keep as slaves/opressed

- the water park needs an expansion. That park looks like it's for 5 years or younger. I dont' see why so much was invested in it in that direction if it's a 'city' venue

- a lounge for local talents of all kinds to perform would be great. Like a Peace Center talent night. Would be nice to see what all sides of this city can bring togethor, whethere hip hop dance, classic ballet, acting, or music performance

I don't know, but it doesn't sound like you're bashing Greenville at all.

Well Sojones, businesses need to generate money. Do you really think those businesses you named would generate enough profit margin to keep doors open?

Also, what do you mean by "people of culture"? I don't want to misinterpret your meaning.

Now I understand what you like, and I completely agree with you except, I would combine the lounge with dance lessons so that all people could enjoy this venue.

I love a comedy club of any kind, because there is no greater medicine than laughter.

I agree - as long as they leave the cheap racial jokes at the door. In my opinion, racism is racism no matter what form it is wrapped up in and some of the most blatantly racist comments come from comedians.

I know it isn't often, but sometimes at the small listening room at Coffee Underground they have spoken word/poetry nights. They also allow anybody to perform their own music or whatever. Again, it's small but pretty neat.

You're being ridiculous...the Confederate Museum is just fine. It's not offensive, it's just history. People should know about it and it shouldn't be covered up and lost. Not many of us are proud of what happened, but that doesn't mean we should close the door on it.

There's also the Upcountry History Museum, the Greenville County Museum of Art, and the new children's museum will be opening sometime.

I am wondering the same thing and not many people have replied? I am considering moving to either Columbia or Greenville, but I am kind of concerned that there isnt much on the social scene for a single 25 year old guy in greenville. I realize clemson is close but it says its 45 mins from greenville, which doesnt really let someone go to the bars for a night and drive back.

There are plenty of bars and nightclubs in Greenville open late with entertainment, if that is what you are looking for. The night scene is growing as well, so don't count on things remaining the same here in that regard.
