I'm a senior Business Admin major in Charleston thinking of relocating to Greenville after graduation. I haven't been there in years but am planning a visit before I decide. Is it a good place to live for a new grad? Can y'all give me your opinions on the area, jobs, nightlife, entertainment, shopping, etc? I have lived no further than 2 hours from the beach my entire life so this would be a bit of a change. Do any of you wish you lived closer to the beach? Thanks for any input!

Definitely come for a visit. I love the beach, but living in Greenville, I find myself doing a lot of hiking and going to the mountain lakes to enjoy the outdoors. It is different, but it's a pretty good trade off for me. It's not for everyone, but odds are that no place you move will be forever. Try it out if you enjoy your visit. What are you interests?

I had always dreamed of being closer to the beach until my son moved to Charleston. When I visit it just seems so trafficky now. Guess that's a sign of old age. I still love to go but living near Greenville I am happy with going to the lake. I prefer Lake Keowee & it only takes 35-40 minutes. Visit for a weekend at least. A lot of people get so wrapped up in Downtown they don't have time for a lot of anything else. Go to the visitors center & look at your interest & try to do as much as possible.

Greenville is more affordable than Charleston especially housing. Traffic isn't as bad.

It has a better mall than any in Charleston. I like the downtown area better than Charleston's.
Greenville has most every chain restaurant that exists and numerous other local restaurants. It has a few stores that you don't see everywhere like REI.

I think Greenville has better comprehensive fitness centers like Sportsclub and and the YMCA which pool, weights, aerobic includes classes, basketball, racquetball, tennis, etc, than anything in Charleston area outside of the MUSC fitness center which isn't convenient for most.

Clemson is 45 minutes away if you are interested in going to football and basketbal games. Those are fun even if you aren't a grad.

You are close to mountains like CHimney ROck, Ceasars Head, Table Rock, numerous waterfalls, and two of the best lakes in the entire country Jocasse and Keowee.

Basically anything you can do in Charleston you can do in Greenville except the beach stuff.

You might want to want to wait to get a job offer before moving anywhere because the economy is tight and even if if the economy was doing good , getting a job that you want in one specific city can be a challenge.
