I thought some of the people at Costco were gonna die if they didn’t get toilet paper. I thought also this was an upper respiratory virus. Hmmm...

Lidl operating 8-8.
Lowes Foods 7-10
Aldi changing hours on a store by store basis.

There is basically no hand sanitizer left. Stores are still able to get TP, but its gone almost the second its stocked.

Purell says they are prioritizing medical facilities & first responders but says it is shipping to retailers daily. Just too much demand in the system still currently. I am starting to see TP more here and there but it does go fairly quick.

Also Harris Teeter plans to install plexiglass shields. And Harris Teeter hiring more workers to handle increased demand and giving all employees bonuses.

These chains are hiring like crazy. My daughter got hired at Publix on the spot and started the next day. She is working about 30+ hours besides her hours at Chick-fil-A (which has dropped a little). She said there are times that there are more workers at Publix than customers.

Some retail chains are not letting employees handle bags that customers bring in. This is a good idea and something I haven't thought about. Bag your own items like you do at Aldi or Lidl. Imagine this will catch on across all chains. Returns at many stores are being suspended as well.

One of the managers at Publix told me that their shipment of toilet paper lasted 3 hours yesterday. That is longer than I would have thought. Probably going to begin limiting customers to one package instead of two. I told him most of his customers will welcome that limit. I did notice that none of the older folks are working right now. Wise move. When I visit a grocery store, I tell every employee that I come in contact with that I appreciate them being there for us.

I’ve never been so excited to spend $29.00 on a package of toilet paper and a package of paper towels.

Earth Fare is making a comeback under new ownership. Three locations in SC will reopen (Columbia, Rock Hill and Summerville) They are trying to secure a 4th lease in SC. Not sure if this is the Pelham Rd location in Greenville.
