My daughter will be attending Clemson this fall to work on her masters degree. She is 23 years old. Need some advice as to housing, she is not sure if she should go with on campus or off campus. If she goes off, in what area should she look? What kind of money is she looking at for rent. What is the general consensus on crime and such there?

She will be working part time with one of the school systems there (I don't remember which) as a substitute teacher. She also is a restaurant/Bar musician and would like to find some places where she can get some gigs maybe on the weekends. Is there an entertainment district close by?

Kind of just starting with this search so not really sure what all I should ask. Perhaps some who are familiar with the area can chime in and let me know how it is.

Thanks

Clemson itself is pretty small. There are a few restaurants and there but not a lot. She might increase her prospects if she was willing to drive to Anderson or Greenville for weekend gigs. She could also live South of Clemson and be closer to Anderson or East of Clemson closer to Greenville.

There are lots of apartments on the NE side of Clemson towards Central. Depending on which school system she will be substituting for, that might also play into where she would want to live.

Clemson is in some ways your typical small SC town but at the same time the university brings in a more diverse population and more things to do.
