Hi Folks,

Asking for a friend.

Is there a list of subdivisions where one can build a reasonably affordable 3 br / 2 ba home? Looking for options both close to downtown or within a reasonable commute to Furman.

Thanks!

Reasonably affordable is subjective, but there is a development off Williams Rd in Travelers Rest where it looks like what I want to call your typical 3/2's are being built, and it would be roughly 10 minutes to the Furman campus. It's not exactly close to downtown, maybe 20 minutes, and it's within biking distance. Furman would be about a 20 minute bike, roughly twice that to downtown.

How about construction opportunities around the $200k range.

There are several neighborhoods going up in that price range in Simpsonville and Greer; not sure of any close to downtown.

Hawk Crest in Travelers Rest has new construction in that price range. Let me know if you'd like more information about it.

Have been in Greenville for the last few days looking for homes. We looked at and liked Hawk Crest but looks like all the lots are taken. Same builder has other developments with similar homes we will be checking out tomorrow. We had originally planned to buy a resale home but maybe not now. Is this builder(SK) a good one?

They are decent for the price, from what I know of them Any home you buy, whether new or resale, should be inspected thoroughly.
When I had looked in the MLs, there were some spec homes listed. Did you see any of those when you visited the neighborhood?

If you build you pay retail price. If you buy used, you can bargain for the right price and then redo. Lot cheaper to buy used and redo than build.
