Fairview Station is a retail center on the southeast corner of Fairview Road and Grandview Drive in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Located at 621 Fairview Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6706, Fairview Station was constructed and opened around 1990. Its initial tenants were Ingle's Markets #41 and Kmart #3875.
Ingle's Markets #41 relocated from its previous location on West Georgia Road at Interstate 385. The old store has been demolished. The existing store is 32,000 square feet in size. It is currently the oldest supermarket in operation in Simpsonville.
Kmart #3875, located closed in 2004 in a wave of store closings. It has been replaced by Kohl's #673, an 86,479 square feet store.
Michael's, an arts and craft chain, is rumored to be opening in Fairview Station.
There's a "coming soon" Michael's banner up there, so it's more than a rumor, although I agree with USNRET04 that the space seems far, far too small.
Are you sure that the K-Mart closed in 2004? I've been living more or less across the street since October 2003, and although I don't put 100% trust in my memory, I honestly don't remember there being a K-Mart open at the time. Tribune Times makes it sound like it closed in 2002, with Kohl's opening in Fall 2003.

Michael's would need to open a smaller store in the existing space available, or the section between Ingle's #41 and Kohl's #673 will need to be razed to accommodate a lager space.
With PetSmart #2559 and Michael's on their way, business at Ingle's #41 should increase. It needs to step up in competition against Walmart Supercenter #2265 (3950 Grandview Drive, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-3163), Publix #613 (Fairview Market, 655 Fairview Road Suite C, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6777) and Bi-Lo #5624 (699 Fairview Road, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29680-6706). I doubt it is able to expand now. Ingle's #41 would be smart to relocate to a new location where a new store provides the necessities of food, pharmacy and fuel and the amenity of Starbucks Coffee.

I agree about Ingle's needing to relocate the Simpsonville store. The Duncan store is a nice example to follow.
But then the question will be, what would move into the old Ingle's space?
Ingles #205 (1500 Geer Highway, Travelers Rest, South Carolina 29690-9204) and #206 (1851 Highway 14 East, Landrum, South Carolina 29356-9698) are examples of smaller stores Ingle's should open. They still provide the necessities of food, pharmacy and fuel. Their advantage is being smaller at 45,000 square feet, which can allow for a quantity of quality smaller stores to infill an area.
Academy Sports and Outdoors or Ollie's would be perfect if Ingle's #41 relocates.
The old Pier One space is still available next to TJMaxx in Simpsonville as well. Any word yet on who will fill it?
Some developer really needs to step it up and develop a new shopping center in Simpsonville. Seems like there is a need. I remember the land next to the movie theater was slated to get a retail development before the recession. Retailers appear to be quite interested in that area as of late with these new additions at the Kohls plaza.
I wonder what happened to the planned retail center at the northwest corner of Harrison Bridge Road and Grandview Drive as discussed in "Between Comfort Suites and Lowe's in Simpsonville." With the growth west on Harrison Bridge Road and south on Fairview Road, it would make logical sense for retailers to locate at that intersection for easier ingress and egress and to infill in a commercial trade area.
