That's what I thought to from my post above. I believe TC is a no longer existing chain from way back and that one has been locally owned and independent for years.
It was an ice cream shop before it was Taco Casa.. And something before that.. They actually have an article from a newspaper from about 10 to 15 years ago that mentions that building used to house an ice cream shop.
It was an Ice Cream shop, and then became Taco Cid. There was a second Taco Cid on Poinsett across from Stone Manufacturing, which I believe is now named Pandora's Box. Both were owned by the same person who decided to pursue other restaurant ventures. He closed the Poinsett store and sold the Pleasantburg location to the Hart family who still owns and operates it today.
From some reason, I always thought it was originally a "Chappy s or Cedric's Fish and Chips"
You may be right.. But, I'll mention that there used to be an Orr's Seafood on South Pleasantburg.. It was torn down to build a Taco Bell, which closed, and is the spot where.. If I'm not mistaken, Golden Chick/Waffle House currently sit.
Not saying you're wrong, just checking to see if you might be confusing Orr's with the seafood places you mention.
Orr's had at least 2 locations.. The Pleasantburg location and one on West Georgia Rd in Simpsonville, which became JW Breakers and is still a bar, but a different named bar today.

I thought Orrs in Simpsonville was where the Electrical supply place is now? Name of it slips my mind right now.
Atlantic Supply is the name of the place. I dont recall JW Breakers, unless it was where that other bar use to be that was tore down. I cant recall its name.
Just for timeframe's sake - Taco Cid was in the Taco Casa building in 1980-81. They were selling all the tacos you could eat and sweet tea for about $2.50. This only stands out because several of us cut a lot of Greenville Tech classes to throw down tacos. :-)

Yes!! Not a lot of people remember that. Also for nostalgia, a second Taco Casa opened in Easley around 1986. It stayed packed day and night for about a year, then the business just died..people quit coming in. This location might have lasted two years.
So far as I know, and I could be wrong.. It's this building on the right that used to be Orr's in Simpsonville.. Atlantic Supply is the one on the left.. That's the bar that used to be JW Breakers/Mac's Comedy/numerous other things

OK, I just showed that to a fellow coworker, he says he remembers atlantic being in the old Orrs building, but they werent there long before they moved, maybe a year if that long. Maybe they were there while the new building was being built? He remembers JWs being in the Orrs as well. anyways, thanks for the refresher! Oh and Clancys was the other bar I was thinking of.
