The last census shows that 57% of Spartanburg is female, and only 43% of Spartanburg is male. That difference sounds significant. Is there a large population of female college students? Are males under-counted?

Converse College is a women's college in Spartanburg, might skew the numbers some.

Thanks. In addition, USC Upstate has 65% female students in a total enrollment of about 6,000, which will also skew the numbes.

They do have a much larger female population but I think that stems from Upstate and Converse. It also has Wofford and VCom as well as SMC. Not sure what the gender breakdown of those schools are but I imagine its not overwhelmingly male dominated.
