I help people look for lost loved ones, ancestors, adoption related cases, etc. I do everything on line.
I see there are LDS Family Search Centers in the area, actually quite a few locations where you can go and research at their locations, as well as order microfilms. For harder cases, this may help in the searching.

Has anyone ever been to these centers to do research? Anyone ever order films? Thoughts???

I've only been to the LDS temple in Oakland, CA and found the search resources to be useful. The advantage is that there are personnel to help if you get stuck. Searches there are free, but the online materials available is the same as you could search from home with a subscription. That was about 10 years ago, so I'm not sure if it still works that way today.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. After posting I noticed some of the listed sites were the main libraries in GVL and SPTG. On the site it says you can access:

Family History Centers provide free access to many subscription genealogy websites, including: I know I can access their website on line and have access to some of the other sites via the GVL Public Library.

I'm interested in the microfilm that can be ordered, and what more information you would have.

I know not all records are indexed yet. I actually just signed up with them to be an indexer. I tell people every day, what you may not find today, you may tomorrow. Information is being added every minute.

I may try to go to the one in Greer. The hours are short, and odd, evenings, just twice a week.
