The office and apartment buildings at Camperdown are over five stories tall as are the Homewood Suites and impending federal courthouse projects. I imagine the new county office building will be over five stories tall too.

Is there a location for the county office building yet?

Negative. There is a lot of initiative to redevelop Greenville County Square. It does not seem there is much noise to find a new location for Greenville County offices. It is necessary to find a new location before you redevelop the existing location.

I was in Nashville this weekend and they did a job of blending the tall, modern skyscrapers while keeping the "old south charm" row buildings. Nashville to be honest reminds me of much larger Greenville. That was my first thought. I showed my girlfriend pictures and the first thing she said was "wow, it does looks like Greenville."

I'd love to see Greenville get something to finally pass the ugly Windstream tower.

Actually there are quite a few building that have been built over the last 5 years that are over 5 stories tall. Is this sarcasm?

Yes, very tongue in cheek, hence the little emoticon Pretty sure gman knew that as well. I'm well aware of some of the taller buildings built recently, it was just a quick pun at our inability to get anything new that really has some height to it. When I say height, I am thinking something that can challenge the Landmark building. Some of these appt buildings with hundreds of appts could have done it ( if built in a different spot), combining the One buildings, or even something different at the Gnews site could have delivered. The new courthouse building is only set to be 8-10 stories, and the county square site apparently has a height restriction, or recommendation at least. Just hard to believe we haven't built anything to challenge even the BOA building, which is the city's second tallest, and it's only a little over 200 ft.

I hope tall buildings are not built in downtown Greenville. In my view, downtown will lose much of its ambiance if that happens.

Given the amount of traffic downtown and on 385 during rush hour already, building tall office buildings downtown doesn't seem like a good idea.
