I noticed and read an article in
The Greenville News of Greenville's downtown facing a hotel bust.
My initial thought is Greenville has more visitors that are visiting and staying overnight. The downtown sub-market is likely where visitors want to lodge. There is a demand for more hotels and there are not enough hotels presently. Hotels are being constructed and are opening to respond to the demand.
If there is not a demand for increased lodging, it could be illogical to construct additional hotels.
