Hello and thank you in advance...
We are relocating to the Anderson area and have heard good things about Anderson district 1 (powdersville and wren) but nothing regarding their special education department. My 6th grade daughter has dyslexia and auditory processing disorder. We have an IEP and I'm hoping it will transfer down to a SC school.
What kinds of programs and accommodations are available? My 2nd grade son receives OT and speech at school too.
Any advice on schools would be greatly appreciated. If there is a better special education department outside of Anderson, we are open to that as well.
I am sure you have done your research and are aware of the status of South Carolina's education. Lack of funding is an issue and not all schools have a Sp. Ed. Dept. Probably best to call the schools directly to find out what services would be available to your children.
"In another blow to the state's lackluster reputation on schools, South Carolina ranked dead last in the education category in U.S. News & World Report's inaugural ranking of all 50 states." (2017)
