My husband may be taking a job in the Georgetown area. My son is 4 years old and has been diagnosed with autism. I have read several forums with posts speaking of RR and Leander being the best for the ESE program but no mention of Georgetown. Is the ESE program that terrible in Georgetown or is it simply overlooked. I would appreciate any help regarding best schools.

I don't have experience with GISD, but I can say that getting support for my son (also on the spectrum) in Leander ISD was a much better experience than we had in RRISD. I recommend checking out homes that feed to Parkside Elementary, which is located in a pocket of Georgetown but is actually part of Leander ISD. The staff there have been superb.

I know that there's a new special needs garden at Parkside elementary: Garden Sense
There's a teacher there who has started a nonprofit to help fund special needs gardens at other schools. So, that's one indication of their mindset towards special needs.

We are in Leander in Summerlyn and only about 15 mins from Georgetown. We have a ninth grader who has Aspergers and some other dx and we have had great luck with Leander isd and know folks that have moved out of RRISD because Autism services are better here. We have SCSS social skill and communication classes for Aspies and Autism kiddo. Look over in LISD.

Hi lueet and neddy! I am looking for info on special ed services specifically for autism in the Parkside Elementary/Stiles/Rouse area in Leander, TX. We're looking to buy a home that feeds to these schools and want to make sure the schools are a good fit and top notch for sped before we do. I'm not sure if either of you still check this board but it is hard to find info specific to schools and special ed/autism. I actually sent you both direct messages through this forum so if you do find this thread first, please respond to my direct message if you have some time. Thank you!!!
