So.. This news came out yesterday.. 120 jobs out of Clinton and Laurens County.. Which is not a great area for jobs to be leaving.. But this news article posted today which has me concerned.

I support prison industries. I think it is important that skills, work ethic and the like be something that prisoners learn to help them upon release. But closing a plant and shifting work to those prison industries.. Got a problem with that. Prison industries should be jobs that are strictly benefiting the government or similar. I know federal prisons, their industries make furnishings that can only be sold to government entities.. Some of them make military uniforms, I believe.. Things like that. Yes, those jobs do take away slightly from the general workforce, but pretty strictly limited.

Sad but was expected, or so I’m told. Most of the operation is going to other plants with prison labor filling in the missing production.

Very sad. This area is still dealing with the loss of CBI last year.
