I wonder how many of those jobs will be filled by C&S Wholesale Grocers associates whose positions are being eliminated with the sale and transfer of distribution center.

The C&S closure is happening in March affecting 366 positions. 800+ new? Seems a little ambitious.

“Doing business in Mauldin as ADUSA Distribution, the company will employ more than 800 people in its distribution enterprise. The senior supply chain leader for the region, Kevin Fifield, said he wants to hire as many people as he can who have worked with the distribution center’s previous occupant, C&S Wholesale Grocers.“

Thinking the same. They only acquired acquired 60 Bi-Lo and Harvey's stores in S.C. and Georgia. Why would they need more than twice the workforce of C&S unless they plan on adding existing stores in SC or new ones under this DC?

The closest Food Loin DC appears to be in Salisbury, NC. So I definitely think they'll add the existing stores in the upstate to the Mauldin DC. Additional stores in the areas surrounding the upstate wouldn't surprise me either.

They are probably also expecting to do more business than BiLo, so the DC would have more goods go through it as well. I'd be curious what the labor force was for this DC, during BiLo's better days. It could also mean a reduction in workforce at the Salisbury DC, so rather than new jobs being generated its just a redistribution of them.

True. They have all the existing stores in the midlands and coast they may be changing from Salisbury to Mauldin. I wonder too if some of the trucks with SEG private label products Bi-LO shared with Winn Dixie like Chek drinks came from Florida?

In my opinion, it is still 800+ new jobs because not everybody that was laid off is going to be working at the Food Lion DC. Please don’t ban me.

They also have a DC in Elloree, SC near where 26 and 95 intersect. I'm guessing the midlands stores might get split between the two depending on what side of Columbia they are on. They also have two other DCs further east in NC. Seems like a lot but I'm not familiar enough with the grocery industry to say for sure.
