Hi, I bought a house a few months ago and there is an area light from Duke energy that shines into the bedroom window. I have gotten black out curtains and black out blinds for the bedroom but the light is still leaking through some. The light is on my bill and on my property.

I heard Duke energy can install a shield. Has anyone here done this? I'd rather not have it shut off, but if I did, will they remove the light/pole from my backyard? Does this cost money?

One can dream right?

I have contacted Duke months ago and did not get an answer to these questions.

Optimistic to think that a minimum wage call center employee will have these answers.

Maybe call Duke and talk to the Billing Department. Tell them you want the light and the charge removed from your bill. ???

Since the light is on your property and you pay for it, I'm assuming you have a separate meter for the light? If not, it must be running through your main meter, which means there must be a circuit breaker or switch somewhere possibly?

I googled this: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/5...-where-to-buy/

Other people have similar problems, but don't seem to be getting a lot of help. One person said it costs $10 a month for a shield! Many of the people complaining in that thread though don't PAY for the light bill it seems. So maybe you'll have more pull with Duke.
