No. The Greenville News still has a print edition everyday except Saturday. It is sold at most normal retail outlets including supermarkets and convenience stores. Although not as many stores sell the print edition as in years past. I was surprised to see a Food Lion that no longer sold The Greenville News, in Greer. The newsstand price is now $3.50 daily and $4.00 on Sunday. It is owned by Gannett, the publisher of USA Today. You can also purchase The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal at select supermarket locations such as Publix and Harris Teeter, and The Charlotte Observer is still sold on Sunday.

Up until about 2010, Greenville offered a great selection of out of town newspapers, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Charlotte Observer, and The State paper from Columbia. In recent years, such long distance distribution has declined in favor of digital platforms.

So, it seems WSPA / News 7 was acquired by Nexstar Media Group in the recent past, is that correct?

Been about 5 years now.. So depends on your definition of 'recent'.

WSPA was the last locally owned station in the market, at least so far as network affiliated stations. It was locally owned until 2000 and.. I think it's been sold/merged multiple times since then.

@Labonte18,
Thank you for the inside scoop. I've been to GVL for about a year, getting to know all the ins and outs would take time... but man, my startup can't wait!
