It is only a matter of time before the official announcement is made. The building has been under construction for months now and several people seem to know that it will be the new home to Samsung's North American call center. My friends from South Korea tell be that Samsung would be a great company to work for.

If you don't want it, they can certainly come to Arkansas.

Hardly....
Wal-Mart greeter jobs would be low paying.
While these Samsung jobs aren't high paying jobs for the most part, from my understanding they will pay an average middle class wage. In addition, there will be higher paying managerial jobs included. To add this world brand to the Greenville area is nothing but positive. Would you rather the jobs not come into Greenville at all?

Really? Have proof? linky linky?

SC as a whole seems enamored with attracting low paying jobs (call centers, warehousing operations, etc.) Sure these are jobs, but the add little to no value to the tax base.

Not everyone is trained or equipped to walk into high paying jobs, yet those people still need to be making a living to provide for themselves or their families. Samsung moving to the area is going to be a good thing for a lot of workers in the area.

Average hourly wage for call center workers will range between $13-$18. More for managers. Not everybody is smart enough or educated enough to be a doctor gaflsc. We live in a state that used to be large on the textile industry. Those people can only get jobs in these type of sectors unless they go back to college. A lot of times they don't have the money though to go back to school.

The way this economy is struggling you have people with all sorts of degrees walking into CVS trying to get a job at any position. So I'm sure this would help out some, especially since S.C. has one of the highest unemployment rates in the U.S.

Are you nuts? First of all, these will not the the bottom of the barrel paying jobs. Having said that, who really cares? We just need news business and new industry coming into town. Not every job pays at the top. We don't need for all our jobs to be in the top of the range. We need a good mix and this company should add to that mix. There are a lot of folks without jobs right now, and more will be out in the coming months. I am excited about any new job announcement. We should all be excited.
