any firemen out there? my brother in law works in south florida as a fireman - has all kinds of certifications, etc... been in it for about 6 yrs now. all kinds of training, certifications, etc... but they may lay him off due to job cuts (heard this before). anyone know what the pay is for a fireman in greenville? his base pay right now is already like $46k but he makes more with overtime. he has only been at this particular department for a couple yrs but his salary has already jumped up condiderably. i think they started him out at like $39k base pay. but he makes a lot more with overtime, so even though his base is $46k or so now, he makes probably 65k or 70k down there.
anyone know what folks make in greenville? six yrs in, all kinds of certifications, etc...???????????????????? thanks a lot.
No, he's in SE FL actually. But we have family in Sarasota. He makes a good living, and it pays well down there. He may get laid off due to cuts and so forth, so he is looking into a few different areas, but I told him to check out Greenville - but he's worried what pay would be for him. I asked the same question on the Asheville forum, and one person said starting pay is high 20k's to low 30k's. Sounds pretty low. I am interested in what it pays with 6 yrs experience.
Look under firefighter job listings here: https://jobs.greenvillesc.gov/ It at least gives you an idea of the pay scale.
