I'm looking for some swimming holes to take the kids on an adventure within a 1-2 hour drive from Greenville. We will have two school age kids and a baby, so not too much hiking, if possible. Thanks!

I just got back Monday from a visit with my ex in laws at their cabin near Cashiers NC. Their association has property on Lake Glenville and it is a beautiful lake. There didn't appear to be too many public beaches, but there were a couple. I would highly recommend it especially if you have a boat. There are three waterfalls that run into the lake and it is something to see! Sadly, pretty much every website I found was about rentals, not general info. Hey everyone, I used to go to a place called Sliding Rock....anyone know if it is still open? They had bathhouses and there was virtually no hike...parking was right there. It was a great waterfall where you could actually slide down the rocks into the natural pool below......

Just west of Highlands, NC, there is a great little place called Quarry Falls. Although it may be better suited for adult recreation (dangerous rocks and rapids), it is a beautiful and useful nearby summer attraction.

If you own or rent a boat, there are several nice waterfalls spilling into beautiful Lake Jocassee.

South Cove on Lake Keowee has some picnic shelters, restrooms and a beachy area. It is in Seneca SC. You would have to have a boat to get to the waterfalls on Lake Keowee, but if you just want to swim and picnic you would be fine.
