There's a beautiful old Lutheran church downtown on N. Main St. - have you checked that out?

Thank you so much for getting back to us. We will be in Greenville tomorrow, Sat., and will be looking around and will try to go in and talk to someone...because neither the bride nor the groom is Lutheran I wasn't sure if they would even want to talk to us...the bride is Catholic & the groom is kind of a Baptist. I know Catholic churches want the couple to go through the classes and raise their children Catholic...This couple has been dating since 10th grade and that makes about 8 years now....

But thank you so very much for the idea and we will check it out...
Many thanks, frantic mother of the bride

Have you tried Grace Church in downtown (old Downtown Baptist Church)? I've noticed several wedding ceremonies there.

Holy Trinity is gorgeous and they do accept non-members. But I wouldn't recommend it to someone who doesn't have a wedding coordinator (or someone who can stay on top of things). It is a very small church that is staffed by a very friendly minister. However, he is very difficult to get a hold of. We were going to book it for our wedding but chose not to because of the communication issue.

Where is the reception? The City of Greenville has many outdoor venues available--see their parks & rec website. They are first come, first serve, and you are not allowed to have tents. But September is usually dry so you might be ok. The Old Mill Garden is a very lovely spot, and there is a rustic picnic shelter that can be dressed up for the occasion.

There are a few galleries around downtown that would also allow ceremonies. There's one in the West End called Zen Greenville. http://www.zengreenville.com/default.html

There is also one called Village Galleries in the Pendleton Arts District. http://www.villageartstudios.com/gallery.php

Good luck! PM me if you have any questions. I wrote the book on cheap wedding and reception venues in Greenville. :-)
