$435 with Travelers? what kind of ins/house do you have? My house is covered for $256,000 with $1,000 deductible and I'm paying over $3,000 per year and another $300 for flood ins.
I don't have earthquake, I have a 5% hurricane deductible, and I have multiple policy discounts.
Yeah, that's what I have in SOFLA, it's where you live. My house down there is probably covered about the same as yours and I pay the same for flood, something I don't need here. I was quoted for car ins. and that too was cheap, $255 FOR 6 months, I currently pay almost $700 every 6 months for just 1 car, a 2005 Hyundai

:-(
That's pretty close to what we have here in FL as well. Our flood is about 800 now, but you are probably in a better zone, or have a better elevation than we do. It's also possible that FL rates are a bit higher than coastal SC.
Better insurance rates are definitely one of the things we are looking forward to once we get out of FL.
They list us in a flood zone and not in the over 20yrs I've been in that house, during hurricanes, have we ever flooded. We are miles and miles away from the ocean. It really doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't have to have flood insurance since my home is paid for, but for the $300 it costs, it's just a form of added insurance on top of what I should have. Between insurance and taxes, FL homeowners get socked in more ways than one and they sure do take advantage of us - it's a crime!
