My longest friend died last Aug. She and I had been friends for over 50 years. It's tough not being able to pick up the phone and talk to her. We lived across the street from each other most of our lives.

I am coming up on the anniversary of my best friend's death. I still miss her just as badly as I did when she died. She was closer than most family . . . it has left a hole in my heart, but I also celebrate her life on a regular basis - when I think of funny little things she would say or the very wise advice she gave me.

She used to say I was the daughter of her heart. She will always live in my heart, too.

I am so grateful we had the time we did . . . but yes, I miss her, still, and always will.

I lost the best friend I ever had in 1998. We were best friends for 20 years, watched one another's kids grow up, went through a LOT together. She got cancer and beat it! Then it came back with a vengeance and less than a year later she was gone. I don't think her cancer was ever 'cured'. I think it was just in remission because it sure came on hard and fast the second time.

I haven't found anyone to 'replace' her...not that I ever could!...and I'm still close with her kids and grkids but I will miss her for the rest of my life. I think 45 is just way too young to die. We used to joke that if they'd just let us have at it we could cure ALL the ills of the world. lol I loved that woman and always will.

Yes, the cancer always comes back with a vengeance, Brat. I noticed that in my husband, his mother and my bff.
