I would think that being familiar with the store's merchandise would be an asset.........if you mention a home remedy....be careful not to cost the store too many sales. You might temper suggestions with .... "you might want to try such and such....but we have a product that has a good reputation and our customers seem to like it."

I had to laugh--I have been thinking the same thing. I am not a vet, and to even give simple remedies to people who may not understand could be dangerous so yes, if we have it in the store I may suggest that product but as far as going off on anything else I'd leave that up to my manager! I know what you are saying and agree wholeheartedly.

Cyn,
Just like here, I think we all make it clear we are sharing our experience, not giving medical advice. An answer starting with "I have experience something like that, and xyz help the animal", if the condition doesn't get better in a few days a visit with a veterinarian is the best thing to do. Does the store have any Vet's they refer too?

If something is too heavy, ask for help, don't think you have to risk injury... sure the manager doesn't want any injury or even risk. Accidents happen, but telling a person to load the skid of 40 pound something in another location should never happen unless the assignee is known to be a weight lifter and loves the exercise, muscle building while he works ; )

OMG Cyn! You got a job! That is sooo awesome! Congratulations! If you refuse to feel too excited, I am going to do it for both of us! That really is awesome. Once a week also sounds like perfect, considering it's always better to start slow and then slowly ease into the dynamics of the place.
Try not to upset the already working ladies there. If I may offer an unasked advise, here it is: before you say/ offer advise to customers, observe what other employees are doing and take their cue. It will surely help you settle down in the new place faster if you understand the store dynamics.

Good luck Cyn. Very happy for you.

Well said Maila. I will follow your advise! Thanks Dude. And yes Jerry there are vets that have a clinic there once a month. I have like a ton of paper work to fill out. It's crazy.....I fill in a little and then do other things and go back to it. Lots of repeat information.
Looks like we are finally going to be getting some rain here. We need it.
No sales on ebay today so guess I'll just list a few items and then finish up with my paper work! I have one item to send out but 2 still have not been paid for--not sure why people buy things and then don't pay?? Oh well.

He came and paid me in full but was only able to take yet another portion of the boxes but that is no problem. He is such a nice person, we talked and he said he is coming back and going to bring his wife to meet me. How nice!
I took my paper work all done back to the store today and the manager wants me to come in on Thursday for about 4 hours. I stopped by WalMart and bought an appropriate type shirt and he said I can just wear Levis and my regular tennis shoes. Hooray! I will need more shirts but 1 is a good start!
