Got home from work at 10pm last night--really late for me! The girl I was working with doesn't drive so I gave her a ride home and then we forgot we had the nightly deposit with us so I had to drive back to the bank and drop that off in the deposit box before starting home.I was so wound up sleep was a struggle but no work today so I will take a nap!!! I got next weeks schedule and am back on only 3 days. It's difficult trying to make schedules with so much going on at work but I sure need that extra day. At least I am pet sitting this week so this is probably best since I will be doing that for 6 days.
Hope everyone has a lovely and blessed weekend!

speaking of drugs.........my wife ( age 71)suffers severe pain from fybromyalgia and migraines.

She is on a lot of prescription drugs.

We were shocked when she received a letter from her family geriatric doctor informing all his patients that as of Sept 1 he no longer will write ANY prescriptions for pain pills , anxiety pills, or muscle relaxers unless the patient is terminally ill.

This has her worried as what she will do.

I warned her I could see this " coming down the track " because whenever there isa problem in this country, the remedy is to swing the pendulum wildly in the opposite direction.

Oh that is horrible and I am so sorry. Since your wife is 71 and suffers from 2 problems I just cannot see how her doctor could not keep her medication going! Maybe time to locate a new doctor or try to get her into a pain management group? But you are right when there is a problem it seems the way our country handles it is far from the right way! Again I am so sorry!

My mother went through the same thing in her 70s. She would find another doctor, that doctor would eventually have to stop his prescribing to patients too. My mother died waiting for the doctor's office to call back when she needed a re-fill. Her congestive heart failure couldn't handle what I assume was the DTs caused because it was a weekend.

These posts are so sad......to think the doctors would d/c meds..not based on diagnosis..but on policy. Geriatric patients aren't going to be addicts.....or if they are.....it is self limiting. Very sad.....I am so sorry. There was a time when I had debilitating pain when I thought about shooting myself if the doctor couldnt help me. (trigeminal neuralgea) The doctor did put me in the hospital and used some pretty strong pain pills to break the cycle. I was fortunate..it didn't come back. The dr. said surgical severing of the nerve in the face might be necessary.

But it did get resolved. Maybe it wasnt trigeminal neuralgea ????? I don't know.

Thank You tami. Its a funny thing about pain. You really cant remember it once its gone. I had forgotten about this episode.....forgetting is a blessing in this case.

Tomorrow is "First Day" and I am looking forward to going to my Quaker Meeting. See you all in the morning.
