I lost my dad four years ago - in fact, we had his funeral four years ago today. He would have been 82. I miss him every day. But I am very grateful for his life and I am also very grateful that God gave him to me as a daddy.

Good wishes to you, OP and to your family.

Forever Blue, I’m so sorry for your loss (belatedly). Now that I’m older and have the realization that we all aren’t invincible like we thought we were in our 20’s, these kind of posts really hit home.

Life is so short and fleeting, I’m glad to read that your parents had a long marriage. How I wish we could all have that.

Lastly, I see that you mentioned he was an Army vet. There is no better calling for a young man than to serve his country. I applaud him for his service and his contribution to the profession of arms.

Again, sorry for your loss.

Just curious, did you know much about his service in the Army? One of my favorite pastimes is sitting and talking with older veterans about their experiences. Oh the stories that they tell!

Unfortunately, not really. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army & served in the Korean conflict, in which he was a Sergeant. That's all I know. He never talked about it. I don't even know how much my Mom knew about his military days. They met later in life than many.
