Oh no it isn't, Roselvr. My husband died of esophageal cancer. It has one of the highest mortality rates. It is right there with pancreatic cancer. Only 5% of those who have esophageal cancer make it past 5 years if it goes into remission the first time. My hubby made it 3 years. So the "odds" are stacked against someone surviving esophageal cancer.
The infection status of HPV may be associated with the prognosis of esophageal cancer based on current studies. ... Some retrospective clinical studies have consistently proved that patients with HPV-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) had a better prognosis than patients with HPV-negative tumors.
I don't even know wth esophageal cancer by HPV is. All I know is I researched esophageal cancer when hubby was first diagnosed and I stand by what I posted.
he didnt have HPV positive caused cancer......it was caused by too much drinking and smoking over the years i think.
If caused by smoking and drinking it's the worst one to get but as I said, some are caused by an STD HPV virus like my hubs tonsil cancer and it is the better one to have with cure rates

Which one was it? Esophageal cancer or tonsil cancer?
My hub had HPV tonsil cancer but when he was being treated by Thomas Jefferson in Philly, there were people that had HPV positive esophageal cancer
Ok then, tonsil cancer. Wow, I thought most every kid had their tonsils out back in the '50s and '60s. Hubs had them, huhn? Poor fella. Or wasn't he around in those decades? You young stuff?

He's 62. He never needed them out and thankfully that left tonsil saved his life. They left the right one in

HPV and Oropharyngeal Cancer.
They call cancers like that oral cancer and yes, some esophageal cancers are HPV positive while some are caused by smoking.
