What characteristics are you looking for in the holster?

strap it to a belt, wear it comfortably while walking the fenceline or fishing, and not be awkward to pull or holster the gun. This is a full-size 22/45, a pretty big gun for a 22.

I'd suggest a Blade-Tech kydex holster. The material is very durable and doesn't retain moisture that can damage a firearm's finish.

Retention is good yet draw is not inhibited. The semi-rigid nature of kydex also increases protection of the holstered pistol.

They offer a couple of belt holsters that fit the 22-45;
SRB (Sting Ray Belt Holster)IDPA Approved :: OWB Belt Holsters :: Blade-Tech Industries

Belt Holster w/TEK-LOK :: OWB Belt Holsters :: Blade-Tech Industries

Blade-Tech also offers magazine pouches for the 22-45;
Single Magazine Pouch with Belt Clip :: Single Mag Pouch :: Blade-Tech Industries

I'd also suggest a Wilderness instructor belt for use with the holster. It's rigid enough to avoid sagging under the weight of the pistol and can be ordered in various widths to match the loop of the holster; Original Instructor Belt: WildernessTactical Products, LLC

The 5 stitch model offers a good compromise between stiffness and comfort. The belts are infinitely adjustable and very durable. I have a couple that are over 10yrs old and they're still in great shape.

For now, the only thing I dislike about it is the lower portion....that whole portion is plastic, cannot change grips or anything...maybe I can by a complete lower portion and then change grips.....

Anyone else???????????????????

Range report.....maybe this weekend..
The last model manufactured, of the Ruger 22/45 leaves a lot to be desired. The plastic on the grip frame is so soft that eventually the magazines don't want to stay fully inserted, causing jams and misfires. The early model of the 22/45 has a hard plastic grip and this problem doesn't occur. Below is a photo of some of my Ruger 22's, the top one has a Valquartson barrel installed, the bottom one has a Pact Lite (mfg Tactical Solutions) barrel installed. I no longer have the bottom one, I sold it at a gun show, but I kept the Pac Lite barrel and bought two models with the hard plastic grip frame. The other photo shows some single actions.

Nice collection! All you need is a few double actions.

It's simple, inexpensive, and works like a charm.

Yeah, I prefer revolvers too.
