Wow, thanks for the pictures LionKing! I love that Garand and the other toys! I am wondering about the "white" stuff that's on the ground, was that ice? The reason I'm asking is because you were wearing only a T-shirt in one of the photos of you on the ground in prone stance ready to shoot. I was just curious.

that is just rocks & coral, typical of the ground in south Florida.Sometimes I brought out a towel to lay on but that day I got some scuffed up elbows. With sun beating down it made controlled breathing a little difficult, may have effected the groups a bit.

That's the one thing I miss about moving away,it was a great spot where I could shoot up to 300 yds or so,there were huge boulders at the end that made a good back drop. There I was able set up different targets a do a little fire and maneuver.Sometimes if as friend went along we would load each others magazines so the guys shooting didn't know how much ammo was left,to practice magazine changing and to practice malfunction transistion from rifle to backup pistol. Can't do that at target ranges.Do a little running with your heart beating hard,it makes it hard to place a well aimed shot.

It was a great place to do just informal plinking also, skipping cans with a .22 or something.

Real nice pieces you have there lionking. Is that Mosin a carbine? I hear that the kick and flash are awesome on those things.

I'd like to go with ammoman but he won't ship within NJ (even though shipping ammo to NJ is legal.) Go figure.

re 7.62x54R, I got a bunch from CDNN (new, brass cased, US govt order) for a good price although I don't recall what I paid. I don't shoot often enough to where I need to shoot the corrosive suplus stuff.

yeah the M38 has a bit of kick to it,I usually throw a flannel shirt over my shoulder and it doesn't hurt that way.I know alot guys use corrosive ammo and clean it good after but personally I stay away from it because most of my rifles are in pristine condition and I just do not want to take any chances, specially with semi autos. My Garand pictured,I wasted the original barrel it came with using corrosive ammo, the chamber was so pitted that casing would fail to eject. It was a hard lesson. The only surplus ammo in 30-06 I know of that is good is Lake City and the Greek ammo.CMP is now out of Lake City but other dealers still have it.

I actually got a C&R license application but haven't sent it back yet.
