Anyone into? I've got some that will soon be C & R and some that have been for quite a while. My PSL will be up shortly and my MAS has been for a while.

Just curious, and too lazy to Google. What are the requirements for C&R classification?

I believe it's simply 50+ years old.

Yep, finally got around to a search:
Quote:
Firearms automatically attain C&R status when they are 50 years old.

is a old Chinese SKS mfg in 1965 considered a "curio & relic"?

is it OK to keep the blade bayonet attached? since it's over 50 years old?

I've bought some Mosin's as a C&R. Having the FFL03 makes it pretty easy to purchase them. 1926, 1938, 1944 and a 1930 Nagant Revolver.

Couldn't tell you the last time I shot them...been at least 2+ years.

No, 1898 and older isn't even considered a firearm as far as classification under the 1968 GCA.

Relics are anything over 50 years old, Curios are things like the CZ 82 that the ATF has specifically put on a list.

Have had a C&R for over 30 years and in four states. Some answers to questions:

1) Chinese SKS has never appeared on the C&R list, see ATF website for download. https://www.atf.gov/search/site/Curio
2) What is a firearm curio or relic?
Firearm curios or relics include firearms which have special value to collectors because they possess some qualities not ordinarily associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

Have been manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; or
Be certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or
Derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or from the fact of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.

3) Lic. Not hard to get, nor is the fee expensive. See ATF website for forms and instructions.
