Most of my hunting is done either one private land where we can use ATV's or close to my vehicle on state land.
Last bow season I took a buck that I tracked onto an adjoining private property. I got in touch with the landowner, but he wasn't home to open his driveway gate. I had to drag the deer all the way down his quarter-mile driveway by myself to get it to my vehicle. It sucked.
I immediately taught myself how to quarter and debone (I've since practiced full butchering). This season, that is my plan. I will quarter at the least, possibly debone, right in place unless it is late at night.
My son shot a 300 lb. (approximately) feral hog on a 30,000 acre ranch near Uvalde, Texas about 15 years ago. Luckily he was out in the chaparral with an ATV to haul it back to the house, but getting it on that thing was a struggle.
