I have had my hair colored at the salon the last few times - slightly lighter and redder than my natural dark brown color, with a few highlights.

Now I want to go back to my natural dark brown. Can I do this at home?
I'm worried about the highlights more than anything else. (I am also wanting gray coverage - don't have a ton but what I have I want to cover.)

Any products that are good for this situation? I have never colored my hair before by myself, so I'm a little nervous. Thank you.

DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME. I ruined my hair on several occassions trying to do this. Because you have dye in your hair already, the boxed color will never come out the shade on the box because your hair is more porous. The last time I tried dying my hair a medium brown, it came out jet black with the ends about 3 shades darker then my roots. Just go to the salon and let them do a single process. It will cost $50 dollars, maybe even cheaper at some places.

Sure...you can do it at home...I would not buy a dark brown color... I would go with a medium brown...maybe even mix 1/2 med with 1/2 light.... Your highlights are going to be a different color...Oh and I would definitly start out with SEMI PERM color. Since you are going darker,,,you can use a deposit color only...
