My hair is basically grey. I have had it colored at a salon for the past 5 years. Right now, it looks mostly blonde with some med-brown undertones. My stylist was using blonde highlights and coloring the roots a med-brown. I would like to be able to color my own hair at home in order to save money. Can I just start coloring my roots as they start showing? Should I do an all over color first? I want to be a med-blonde color. Before I was grey, my natural color was a dark blonde. With the brown roots, the grey really shows fast. It's almost a white color at the roots. What do you suggest? Thanks so much.

Box blondes never turn out right at home...usually.

They have root touch up kits. Ask your stylist if you can use those with whatever color they are using. I would also talk to your stylist and extending time between visits. Some dye jobs can go for longer than others depending on what color they use. Maybe she needs to stop with the brown roots?

My suggestion to you is to go to HairCrazy.com - Specialist in Hair Colour and ask them through their contact page. It is a wild site, ladies wanting to go GREY! Have fun.
