Do you have it? Do you embrace it or are you devoted to your flat iron/relaxers? How do you take care of it? Do you love it or wish you had a different hair type?

For the non-curlies, do you like curly hair? Or are you glad you were born with the type you have? Do you find curly hair attractive on a woman/man? Or would you shy away from a curly in favor of a straight, all else being equal?

And just to illustrate, I mean the naturally curly like Andie Macdowell or Annalynne McCord or Tamara Tunie, not those big loose curls that are popular today (however lovely they may be).

My hair is naturally curly. It was TERRIBLE in high school. I couldn't do anything to it, and no matter what it always looked like a birds nest.

Now it's not so bad, but it still curls when it grows out. Normally I keep it pretty short anymore.

The tight curls look so 80s, lol. I really dig the 'loose curls', generally prefer them to straight. I prefer the hairstyles of the 40s, 70s and today vs the 80s and 90s.

I have naturally curly hair similar to Andie Macdowell. (I was known and remembered for my hair.) I love and miss it, but chose to have it chemically straightened (TR) back in 2005 and have been doing TR & BKT treatments since then mainly to cut back on "getting ready" time due to children. When my hair was curly, it took me almost an hour to dry regardless of whether I styled it curly or blew it out. Plus the Long Island summers can be a b*tch when it comes to humidity. The down side to TR & BKT is that it leaves the hair flat/little to no volume and styling can be a PIA and you're kind of stuck with that pin straight look.

The type of hair I wish I did have is like Gisele Bundchen's! I love her loose waves!!!

Wild curls were certainly embraced by the 80s, but it seems strange to call the style 80s since, well, it's natural. It's like saying blonde hair is so 90s...it's how it naturally grows on some people so it doesn't really make sense, you know?

Ah, but the straight-haired women paid a lot of money on perms to get that curly look. I remember being stopped by many many women back in the '80s to find out who did my hair. They were very disappointed to find out that it was natural.

My hair is like Andie McDowell's and gets very frizzy in humidity or drying with a diffuser; it's a little better when it air dries. Unforunately, where I live, that's about 4-5 months of the year when I can let it air dry. I also have to get it wet every day to refresh the curl even if not a full shampooing because its gets crazy bedhead.

So I've switched to keratin treatments and have my stylist do it with as few passes of the flat iron as possible to still seal the keratin onto the hair; that way, I still have a lot of wave, not the tight curls, but more importantly I don't have the frizz.

My hair is naturally curly and looks like Annalyne's hair, but longer. Actually my hair looks just like Mariah Carey's when she wears it curly.

I wash and condition it two or three times a week. Every morning, I wet it and smooth in a little curl gel for definition, and let it air dry. If I don't wet it everyday, it starts to look dry and frizzy.

When it's humid, I use more gel to keep curls under control and minimize frizz.

Once in a while I get my hair flat ironed and wear it straight for a more formal look.

At one time in the 80s it seemed like almost everyone had those curls. As the above poster pointed out they obviously weren't all natural.
