Help!

WTD?

Ok, I got a perfect haircut, the kind you get once in a lifetime, every strand was perfect.

Then, I came home and colored it with John Frieda haircolor, a beautiful chestnut brown. Wow....I was looking good!

Then, I couldn't leave well enough alone.....so, I decided to add some highlights, the Clairol kind, with the little finger dab thingie.......now.....well, I look more like Bozo the Clown! Seriously, it turned an ugly shade of orange, only in patches, its awful!

Ok, here's my options----opinions, plz----

go buy some more Frieda haircolor, in a slightly darker shade, recolor the whole head, and hope it doesn't turn an even weirder shade......

Go back to my stylist, have her cut off as much as she can of the "orange highlights" which will be difficult, since its already quite short, like a pixie, but cut what she can, then color again the remaining hair

Go to a full-service salon, to a color specialist, have them try to fix it.....my current stylist is one of those Supercut type places, they don't do color

Until then, hope for cold weather so I can wear a hat

WHY couldn't I have left well enough alone?

I looked soooooo good, I was excited to look good for holiday family photos, now.....guess I will be the comic relief

I would go to your stylist or a full service salon. You've already dyed your hair way too much and if you're unsure of what the chemicals are going to do to your hair, it's best to take it to the pros. I would also ask them for recommendations on treating/conditioning your hair.

I agree. Layering color upon color isn't the best idea. Your stylist may be able to fix it with a simple toner, but you need their expertise to get the right shade.

Well, I checked in with my stylist, she suggested just re-coloring it. I bought another John Frieda in one shade darker, it worked perfectly! The orange stuff just disappeared, its all one nice shade of chocolate brown. Also, the conditioner that comes with Frieda products is super-excellent, my hair feels nicer now than before!

I had a coupon for $5 off the Frieda foam color, and it was on sale, so, total cost wa $6. The stylist said my hair is in good condition, so it could probably stand another color product, and if she tried to cut the bad parts out I would look like a guy!

Ok, now, I look great

I was going to same the same thing. Recoloring with the same color or darker works great for browns/red. The only time you really need a stylist for color is if you want to go lighter (which explains your highlight disaster). Which highlighting kit did you use? I've used Clairol before too a couple of times..the Nice n' Easy Frost & Tip, and it actually worked really well as far as color is concerned. But I had my husband, poor guy, do a really detailed job with pulling my hair through the holes in the cap.

It did damage my hair though, so I decided to go back to professional highlights. The expense is annoying.
