What's the name of the Clairol product, just in case, and are you sure it won't "stain" even porous hair? I want to end up PURE white once it all turns.
Clairol Loving Care is what it used to be called. Just make sure it is the kind that lasts just 6-8 shampoos. I don't think it would stain your hair. I can't be for sure but it didn't mine. To me, it seems TRULY non-permanent. If your hair is very porous and very blonde or white and you used a very dark color, I guess staining might be possible but I REALLY doubt it even then. Now the semi-permanent or Demi permanent says 28 shampoos but it will stain and not wash out.
Clairol currently has a semi-permanent line of hair color that lasts 5-6 shampoos. It's available at Sally Beauty Supply and online, amazon and some other stores. But not normal retail stores that sell box color.
It's in the Clairol Professional product line. It's called Clairol Beautiful collection and there are 2 categories for it: one of them is designed specifically for gray coverage( it's called Clairol Beautiful Collection Advanced Gray Coverage) and the other is normal semi-permanent color - Clairol Beautiful Collection. No peroxide or ammonia in them.
Looks like the gray coverage line lasts up to 12 shampoos.
Fanci-full used to be very popular years ago when I worked as a hairdresser. It was never used to cover gray; only used to enhance existing hair color. "Sweet Cream" was one of the most popular and was used to offset any brassiness in bleached hair, and the blue shade (forgot its name) was used to enhance white hair, eliminating any yellowness.
I don't think it would be satisfactory for covering a lot of gray, and it does tend to coat the hair shaft, giving it a duller appearance.
It will cover gray roots temporarily. I put it in a small spray bottle and spray it on the roots after shampooing and before styling.
If it covers gray "roots" (again, the presumption is that one also uses a permanent dye), then it should cover the entire hair, as well, if you DON'T use a permanent dye on the rest. What am I missing here?
I see that Loving Care Temporary has been discontinued, but what about Nice 'n Easy non-permanent; is that the same thing as temporary, or is it semi-permanent?

My hair grows very fast. I am referring to the time before touch up with my hairdresser.
