Can someone take a look at the pic of Stacey Hampton in this article and tell me the name of the hair color? If you were to buy a box color in a drug store what color do you get to get this color? I see people DIY and it often looks orangish, but this one is more whitish. Thank you.

Ash colors can be hard to achieve if you have a lot of golden/red tones naturally in your hair or if you have color in your hair that is red/golden in its base tone.
I only tried an ash color once and it didn't work so well since I have lots of red in my natural color. If this is the case you will want to use an anti-brassing agent.
Now I'm thinking of trying a white platinum blonde, an all over color, as that original picture had highlights and different color pieces which would be too hard for me to do myself, especially since I have no experience in this.
Since I'm staying at home for the time being, I thought I would try coloring my long wavy brown hair myself. And if it turns out hideous and orange, no one would see it, and I could dye it back to brown once I have to go back in to work (whenever that might be).
I used to do a double process at home. To get that white/platinum cool blonde over brown hair, that's what you will need to do. It can be very damaging to your hair and you have to be careful about the amount of bleach, the strength of the developer, and choosing your color and toner. And remember, if your skin is olive or warm in tone, the ash platinum will not be complementary to your complexion.
You have to lift your color out with the bleach/developer solution to a pale lemon yellow first, then go back over with the toner color & developer.
Also, it may be new to you, but the all-over white-blond color is not current from a fashion perspective any longer. You may want to look into getting a frosting cap and kit and doing a heavy frost instead (which will be easier to grow out).

Thank you. I would prefer the frosting but think that may involve more skill than I can handle myself. That's why I had thought to do the 1 color, but I will look into the frosting.
