My hair is a paradoxical disaster--paradoxical, because the base is brassy, which can be sort of cured by purple shampoo or toner, but it also has (now) grey highlights that become even more grey when I try to remedy the brass with the purple shampoo. I had it "professionally" done, but came out with the brassy base and okay highlights--but when I returned to have it fixed she put on a purple toner, which did a teensy bit for the brass, but turned the highlights grey. Now it's a full rich ugly brass with grey streaks that add like 20 years to my appearance . . . How can I fix this? Please please
Clarifying shampoo to get out the purple/grey. It will fade the color. Then a filler and try the at home purple shampoos. You hair was probably really dry after the highlights and drank up too much of the toner. If you still need corrective color I would go to someone else and tell them the hair history. They may suggest lowlights to help blend it all together and minimize further damage to the highlighted sections.
This may not help at all but try rinsing your hair with really strong coffee and leave it on the hair a few minutes before rinsing out. I had the brassy before we moved and it was obviously due to something in the water system because it disappeared with the move and water change and now, the gray blends into the natural color of my hair. I try to avoid chemicals.
are you trying to keep some of your grey? if so why not go to a color specialist and get an all over highlight with several shades of blonde with only a bit of grey showing?
