Just wondering, what would be a good, safe, environment that is relatively near the beach, hopefully within walking distance to restaurants and other points of interests. I know that the plane noise is unavoidable. But I liked the area that I saw. Also possible Dog in the picture. I like a Pool/Hot tub and laundry in units. Not sure what else would be good, but thinking about the viginia beach area. Any suggestions? (I am originally from NY but have been in North VA for a bit).

Under 1350/month. I narrowed it down to: South Beach and Crossing at Red Mills. Any Advice? Pro/con's?

Red Mill is a nice area. It is a drive to the strip though. Your best/closest beach would be Sandbridge. In my opinion sandbridge is the best beach in the area anyway. The complex is across the street from
Red Mill Commons (http://www.redmillcommons.net/index.html - broken link). I go there to shop. It's nice, clean and is safe IMO. I'm not afraid to be there after dark by myself. There are several great restaurants at red mill commons. I don't remember ever hearing jet noise in that area either. Not saying it's not there, but I haven't heard it.
South Beach looks nice, but I personally would not want to live there due to the location. It's to close to the strip (you can't walk there, but you'll have a lot of traffic) and the convention center. I really don't know much about the complex, but I know I personally have heard jet noise in that area. I would suspect there is road noise from the interstate too.
Red Wing Park would be the closest dog park to both, but it's slightly closer to Red Mill. The other dog park is in Kempsville.
Personally I would pick the crossings at red mill because
~it is close to everything you need including groceries.
~I avoid the "strip" as much as possible espically during the summer season, so the proximity to sandbrige (my preferred beach)would be good.
~They have a lot less jet noise according to my experiences and this
map .
~Only downfall (which can be seen as a plus) is they are a distance from the interstate.
