Hello,my husband & I are in our late 20's with our 9month old son,we're looking to move to VA early next year & we were wondering if there are any areas to suggest & not suggest to raise a family,with not too much traffic,little crime & good schools?We want to be near alot of things to do for fun (mall,parks,etc) a lil bit of a drive isnt a problem to get there.Ive been looking for months & no site is giving me enough of what I want or looking for. I rather hear some people's opinion other than stats.I want to be able to walk at night & not worry.Hampton is so big & has so many areas,I dont know where to start. If anyone could give us some pointers that would be great!Being right near water isnt a big deal.We just want a place with fun opportunites.We also want a diverse area including schools.Also if people know of apartment places to look at that arent deceiving.need at least a 2bedroom & would prefer not an apartment building or at least a huge one. Thanx again in advance for anyone's help!

I'd honestly stay in CT if I were you. I grew up in CT, lived in a few places, moved to Hampton Roads Virginia, and moved back to CT.

Is there a particular part of the Hampton Roads area you need to be in for work?
We live in Chesapeake, and love it. Great for families, and you tend to get more property for the money. There are a lot of new neighborhoods popping up in Chesapeake.... lovely homes!Virginia Beach has a lot of options as well for a growing family. Lots of nice townhomes close to the beach, and terrific suburban neighborhoods. Traffic into and out of VA Beach can be a nightmare though, depending on where you are. Chesapeake, not so much.

thank you,yes the areas my husband job is located in Roanoke,Annandale,danville,Va Beach, & Richmond. As long as the commute to work isnt too bad it's fine.We are on a tight budget so we cant live in an expensive town.
