Apartment complexes in the Greenbrier area (Virginia Beach, Norfolk: rent, condo, house)

I'm currently looking for apartments in the greenbrier area and am interested in the Ivystone apartments. It seems to have received mixed reviews from tenants on apartmentratings.com, so I'm wondering if anyone who reads this forum has lived or knows someone who has lived there. Because I'll be relocating from out of state, it is possible that I will have to choose an apartment without being able to view it, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have been apartment hunting recently in the Hampton Roads area, and I know someone living in Ivystone. Ivystone is quiet and residents seem respectful and pleasant. It has ample parking and is in a GREAT location. The apartments are small and dim. The carpet could use replacing and the bathrooms need upgrades. The kitchen is very small and needs upgrading too. There are bugs. Not vermin or roaches, but other random bugs. The pool is kind of icky. The rent is high for the size of the apartments and the condition of the apartments. This would not be a first choice.

Try Holly Point if you want that area of Chesapeake. It has beautiful grounds and interesting apartments.

In Virginia Beach try Reflections for the same price range as Ivystone. It's nestled in a wooded area and has more room. Try Thalia Gardens in Virginia Beach. Also if you would consider the sort of the beach area, try Crossings at Red Mill-very nice. In Norfolk try the Ghent Area but it will be pricey.

In the Hampton Roads area you quite often can rent a house or condo for the cost of a nice apartment.
