You've heard of a Dumbo Drop... what about a Febreze Drop?

What would you think of the idea of the governor requesting a drop of nearly 2.3 million gallons of Febreze onto the stinky factory at West Point?

A quote from a recent article:

“If you have been to West Point you may have noticed that horrible smell lingering in the air, as it has for years, and quite honestly it’s long past time that we do something about it,” said Peace, holding up a 27-ounce bottle of the odor eliminator made popular in homes and college dormitories. “This here is the exact same harmless, non-toxic product that we want to dump onto West Point. The only difference is that’d we’d dump about 11 million bottles onto it.”

Oh wait... I should probably point out this was an April Fool's article written by Mr. Williamsburg last year... but I happened to stumble on it last night and thought it was hilarious so I thought I'd pass it on and see what you guys think. I mean hey--it's an intriguing idea. Might work.

It was totally in jest. I don't think you can do anything to make a paper plant less smelly. That plant has been there since 1914.

Rats, so another idea bites the dust!

Anyway.... what else can you tell me about West Point besides the fact that it happens to have a stinky paper plant? Looking at it from the satellite images it kind of looks like a cool town. Every street seems to lead to a river, so I would imagine the views are really nice. Who lives there and what is the town like?

Enlighten us?? What is stinky about West Point?? Is this a true fact and if so...explain. I do know that in Maine there is a town called Stinkin Lincoln. Use to be a paper mill and the stench was just awful when one drove thru there. Don't know if it still stinks, haven't been there for a very long time.

I have friends that live there that say you get used to the smell and don't notice it after a while. (ha) It depends on which way the wind blows as well....Best school system in the state of VA. ( fact) A few empty storefronts on main street. If the plant were gone they would lose a large employer but eventually the town would take off I'm sure.

I used to live near El Segundo in southern California. They had a stinky plant PLUS it was right next to the airport. People used to call it Smell Segundo or El Stinko. People said the same thing there--after a month or so you don't notice the smell or the plane noise anymore. I actually have very fond memories of El Segundo--once you get past the plant, it was a charming town.

Getting back to the paper plant... How far of a distance does the smell carry? Is it just in the town or can you smell it from miles away?
