Hello,

I am looking for a DETACHED single family home to rent in either Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, or Norfolk. We currently live in Virginia Beach off of Indian River Rd where it splits from Ferrell Pkwy. We are living in a condo, but I cannot take the noise of the neighbors anymore. I have a 14 month old daughter and the neighbors constantly wake her by either yelling, cars starting, music playing, or the neighborhood kids come over to our parking lot and play and yell. We are looking for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house. I have been searching for months and have only found townhouses in Virginia Beach and houses in the bad parts of Chesapeake and Norfolk. My husband works in Norfolk, so we would like to move as close to there as possible. I am a student and am currently going to Tidewater Community College. I will eventually be going to ODU. We need to find a nice area that is close to Norfolk General Hospital, where my husband works. We want to find a house that we can live in for the next 2 years, so this will be the last time we move while we are in Virginia. I have contacted a real estate agent and he has sent us listings, but they are the same listings that I already found. Our max rent is $1,225/month. Is it possible to find an actual house (not a duplex, condo, townhouse, or anything attached) within this price range in a nice area? Where are some neighborhoods in each city that I can look? Any search tips?

Thanks!

You may want to check Aragona and Indian Lakes in Virginia Beach as well as Avalon Park in Chesapeake and Larchmont in Norfolk. The public website for the MLX is hrmls.com.

I have seen houses in Courthouse Estates for rent in that price range. I have renters on each side of my house, don't know what they pay though.

In Norfolk, check out Bayview, Northside, Estabrook, Camellia Acres, Colonial Place, Riverview, Lafayette, Lakewood, Belvedere, and Ingleside. I imagine you'd be able to find something in your price range somewhere within these neighborhoods.
