We are thinking about staying 5 days during the Memorial Weekend. Here are a few questions I have...

1. Do the hotel prices go up significantly during this weekend as opposed to the weekend before Memorial?

2. We plan to book real soon, but is vacancy ever a problem if we want an ocean front hotel for a large group of people (15 or so, or 5 rooms).

3. Is traffic and beach congestion a problem during Memorial Day weekend?

4. Any hotel recommendations? We want breakfast in the hotel and a pool/ jacuzzi, oceanfront balcony, but we don't care if its north or south end or what part of the strip.

1. Yes

2. No

3. Somewhat

4. The only hotel I would stay at would be the Hilton. The majority of the rest are nasty.

Yes, prices increase.

Many hotels will sell out.

Absolutely

The Sheraton at the Oceanfront is very nice. Go a week before Memorial Day, as prices go as high as they go starting at Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks guys. I've confirmed what u all said searching on expedia.com Sheriton looks nice, only its 40 more a night. I get a discount with springview by marriott and that one just appeals so I think I've found a good one. We are going the weekend before memorial time. The hilton price memorial time was almost 400 a night. My main concern is clean carpet and sheets with no feces stain or armpit odor. Then again I am a travel agent so they will be sure I leave satisfied.

I look forward to some biking as well. I'm sure they have bike rentals with the 3 miles boardwalk and streets. I rented one in AC and bike a lot.

There are many places to rent bicycles. The link should list all the locations for you to choose from.

You're wise to come the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. The holiday weekend is traditionally the start of tourist season and the prices do indeed increase by a lot~

When you said Springview by Marriott - are you referring to Springhill Suites by Marriott at 901 Atlantic Avenue? If so, this link is to a bike rental shop located at 9th and Atlantic. Can't get much closer to your hotel than that!

That's nice. I haven't rode a bike in a long time, since g/fs bike got stolen. I have a cruiser sitting in my shed with a tiny problem to fix, anyway nothing like riding a bicycle in the sun.
