Navy guy with gf transferring back from CA. I was looking at Brandywine in the lake edwards area but read it's a bad area. Most of those posts are old. How is that area now? The place seems Ok with a good rent.
What say you?

Lake Edwards area when I was there, and I still believe it is, a bad area. Look elsewhere for peace.

the area is bad. brandywine is a nice community, but the surrounding area is terrible!!! they tried putting up a fence around it, but it still comes in.... and it's just not an area where you'd want your gf walking around alone at night. the reason why the rent is okay in that whole area -- it's scary!

are you going to little creek or oceana?

if you're going to the oceana area, I live near here (and I work off military highway in norfolk and my commute is about 10-15minutes).... it's old and doesn't have the amenities apartment complexes have, but the neighborhood is super-safe and convenient to the highway. These are cheap because they are OLD (but that hasn't really bothered me):

Ego Drive safe??? Wow, I patrolled there for ten years and would NOT call that a safe area. Unless there have been some major changes since 2006. All kinds of crack and heroin just down the street. We did some major drug work on North Streamline and South Streamline Drive. Many nights we served no knock search warrants on that street and I've been shot at on that street. Was involved in several homicide investigations just behind South Streamline near the railroad tracks that were drug related.

As for anywhere near Lake Edward, No way would I ever live there and I'm armed ALL THE TIME.
