Hello everyone,

I'm posting this blog because I have some serious concerns. My brother has been incarcerated at the Virginia beach jail for more than ten days already. We finally spoke with him yesterday and he sounded very bad. Our conversations were cut off three times. He said that he had put his family on the visitors list but they still say no such list exists. We have not heard from him since. I inquire because not long ago, officers beat the hell out of an elderly female inmate who was mentally ill and not provoking.

Can someone tell me if this jail in particular torments it's inmates? We are worried but feel helpless. Any advice would be appreciated as well.

Thank you!

I would not worry too much , If CO's beat somebody that does not deserve it , they will be suspended or fired. You can get an attorney if somebody is beaten without cause. Jail is not a hotel, but you can go to the jail in person , find out when visiting hours are and visit him , and you can check on him.

The last sheriff had a number of inmates die in the jail. The new one hasn't
