I'm thinking about getting into a Krav Maga or Muay Thai class mainly because they both seem practical. I took tae kwon do here over a decade ago but it just didn't seem that cool in retrospect. If anyone has any recomendations on where to go, please reply.

Many martial arts schools are now teaching jujitsu and hybrid forms of it because of its practical "steetfighting". I have taken for years, and the best in my book is Chuck Norris Karate at Janaf shopping center in Norfolk. I know, Chuck Norris?ha ha but the school has been around for 30+ years and they just own the name. Their main style is Tang Soo Do, but with many practical self defense and jujitsu concepts. They stay true to many "old school" teaching tacticts, and believe in keeping karate an art form as well as self defense. Go check it out, and get a few free lessons. Unlike most new schools, where you can "earn" your Blackbelt in a year or two, it takes 5-6 years of dedication to the art but well worth the commitment.

My husband used to go to the Chuck Norris school. He went to the one that was on Virginia Beach Blvd (near Rosemont). They've since closed that location... but I know that he absolutely loved it.

And we're even thinking of going back.
