Hey, thought I'd mention that I just watched an old Hawaii Five-0 episode (1968) and it was better than I remembered! I used to watch the reruns back in the late '70s. Lots of location shots! So fun to see, including the old cars, fashions, etc. This episode featured a Kamehameha Day parade, Iolani Palace and other downtown locations. Also saw that there is a new 5-0 series planned later this month. Wonder if that one will be any good? Anyone heard anything?
I was a big fan of Hawaii five-0. Jack Lord was priceless and story lines were always great.
I hope the new version can measure up----Steve Mcgarrets part is being played by the lead actor on the shortlived three rivers series on cbs last year.
My hunch is that the new version will not survive-----lets watch and judge.
The original hawaii Five-0 ran from 1968-1980. I doubt it if the new series last even a fraction of 12 yrs. I do know the new hawaii five-0 will show pretty women with smaller bikinis.
i had never seen the old series but there was a marathon on the other day on spike & i watched it for 5 hours lol it was pretty good & it was really interesting to see how the island looked 40 years ago.
Considering that there are no local actors in the primary cast, I doubt that the new "Hawai'i 5-0" will measure up to the old series.
If the show lasts, I'm sure we'll eventually get the same local bit players in semi-recurring and multiple roles like the original had.
The promo video actually makes me hopeful that they're trying to get it right- lots of nods to the original credits while making the rest updated and relevant to modern times.
And the pilot got a positive review from the generally picky Television Without Pity a little while back. While they said it wasn't like a Battlestar Galactica level of remake awesomeness, they thought it was enjoyable and that they show had real potential based on what they'd seen.
