As a serious ragweed sufferer, I can say that Hawaii is a MILLION times better than the East Coast during ragweed season. I have allergies here, and I seem to have them worse at different times than I did at home. But they NEVER EVER EVER get as bad as they did when ragweed pollen was coating everything at home. And I'm so grateful for that relief!
I had allergies and asthma when we lived in the mainland (mainly the South and "Heartland States) but since moving back to Hawaii in '06 I have not had even one attack and I do not have to take any meds or daily breathing treatments.
Everyone has different sensitivities. I knew an attorney who had to move back to Michigan because his doctor told him that if he stayed in Hawaii (Oahu)his entire immune system would be damaged. I don't believe vog was a factor, just vegetation.
